Center for International development and training funds GIDICom's activities to fight Covid

GIDICom over the weekend carried out distribution of COVID-19 Kits in two localities in Bamenda - Ntarbang and New Layout Nkwen.

These two localities were chosen by Global Initiative for Digital inclusion and Communication and touched a population of 250 people. Ntambang comprised of pregnant women, elderly women and breastfeeding mothers. They were very welcoming. The reception took place at the Ntarbang community hall. An educative talk was given to the people by the president of GIDICom Miss. Pedmia Shatu on the

preventive measures of COVID-19, the important of social distancing and also they were school on the right ways of wearing a face mask.
Ntarbang community was very pleased with the gifts of face masks, sanitizer, wash hand buckets and soap. On behalf of the Ntambang intercultural women group, their President Hauwa Abdullahi expressed gratitude and indicated that since the spread of the Corona virus, no group has reached out to them. They thanked CIDT through its representatives and like Oliver twist requested for more. The women’s President indicated that the placing of the buckets at strategic points in the community will be done in a way that their non-Muslim families can also benefit, a decision which was saluted by CIDT representative, GIDIComs boss and team. A symbolic handing over was done to their quarter head who expressed on behalf of his community their heart felt thanks.

The next stop was at New Layout Nkwen at the quarter head's compound where we were received by his daughter Mrs. Ndikum Bernice in his absence. She gave a word of welcome to us and the floor was given to Miss Uppaultine Vimombi SG of GIDICom who introduced the purpose of the visit and later on gave Miss Pedmia who educated them on the importance of hand washing especially with soup and running water, right use of face masks and sanitizer as well.

Global Initiative for Digital Inclusion and Communication’s boss handed the items to the quarter head's representative. On behalf of all who were present, she expressed the joy they felt after receiving these items.

It should be noted that all these were done in the presence of the representative of CIDT project lead for the NW and SW Region who handed the donations to GIDICom who served these two targeted population.
